Sheriff IDs Three Killed Crashing Dodge Charger Into MD Quarry

New details have been released after three people were killed in a triple-fatal crash at the Union Bridge Quarry in Frederick County over the weekend.

At approximately 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, members of the sheriff’s office were called to investigate a reported crash involving two women and a man who were found in the bottom of the dry quarry near Lehigh Road and Peter Shriner Road.

Those involved, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office: 

  • Kortney Angleberger, age 28, of Keymar;
  • Robert Grossnickle, age 65, of Woodsboro;
  • Rachel Willis, age 23, of Dickerson.

It is unclear who was driving at the time of the crash.

According to investigators, a 2022 Dodge Charger was speeding when it left the roadway and plummeted into the bottom of the quarry, which is owned by Heidelberg Materials.

One of the victims was ejected from the vehicle. The other two were found inside the Charger.

Following their deaths, friends and family took to social media to express their dismay about the fatal crash.

The investigation into the triple-fatal crash remains ongoing.
